B for Brontosaurus is actually three people: Abe, Ben, and Joanna. Scrappy youngsters not long out of school, they live and play together in Somerville, Massachusetts. Abe and Ben met in College, where they played in a different rock band. Ben and Joanna have been friends since High School, where they were both in chorus and drama club.
Abe, Ben, and Jo play drums, guitars, and bass+keyboards, in that order. Everybody sings! Their songs, sweet and raucous and loud and quiet, sound like lots of different things, and are also about a variety of things. Maybe they sound like “a mix tape where every band has the same instruments.” Some of their favorite bands are Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers, the Moldy Peaches, Beat Happening, the Unicorns, Buddy Holly, They Might Be Giants, and the Velvet Underground, in case you were wondering what the tape might sound like.
“There is something that we know,” B for Brontosaurus promise at the end of “The New Gang in Town,” their hip new self-declaratory. But what do they know? You can ask the crowds they’ve wowed all around New England for the last year, but why not check it out for yourself? We can tell you this much: B for Brontosaurus hope to improve your life with their whimsical yet self-conscious pop compositions, performed with a verve and love of life that can only mean one thing: they are in a band!
